Transport Innovation Fund Funding For Greater Manchester

EDM number 345 in 2008-09, proposed by John Leech on 17/12/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Local government, Railways and Roads.

That this House recognises the resounding rejection of the proposed Manchester Congestion Charge scheme in the Greater Manchester referendum; recognises that Greater Manchester requires massive investment in public transport to promote growth in the local economy; notes that £1.5 billion was to be made available to Greater Manchester through the Transport Innovation Fund in the event of a yes vote; and therefore calls on the Government to ensure that Greater Manchester is not short-changed as a result of the no vote so that public transport improvements including across the whole of Greater Manchester, Metrolink extensions, can proceed.

This motion has been signed by a total of 6 MPs.
