Glasgow Rail Services

EDM number 2252 in 2008-09, proposed by John Mason on 09/11/2009.
Categorised under the topic of Railways.

That this House expresses concern over reports that the direct rail link between Glasgow Central and King's Cross using the East Coast Main Line is to be axed, with the loss of 40 per cent. of the capacity or 22,000 seats a week on direct services between London and Glasgow, affecting travel to and from Glasgow and the north east and east of England; notes that the West Coast Main Line is prone to engineering works and delays which, with no East Coast Main Line, would put Glasgow business and tourism at a disadvantage; and calls on the Government to reconsider this proposal and to ensure that the nationalised East Coast Main Line continues to offer regular, direct services to Glasgow from London's King's Cross.

This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs.
