World Day Of Remembrance For Road Traffic Victims 2009

EDM number 2242 in 2008-09, proposed by Bob Russell on 05/11/2009.
Categorised under the topics of Death, Roads and Personal injury.

That this House welcomes the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims to be held on 15 November 2009; notes this year's theme is From Global Remembrance to Global Action, with the First Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety occurring a few days later in Moscow; warns that without much greater priority, the World Health Organisation predicts that road crashes will surpass HIV/AIDS and become the fifth leading cause of death worldwide by 2030; and urges the Government to promote a sustainable transport approach with walking and cycling prioritised, thereby reducing not only road crashes but also helping tackle the twin global crises of obesity and climate change.

This motion has been signed by a total of 32 MPs.
