Blackpool Royal British Legion - Poppython 20th Anniversary

EDM number 2125 in 2008-09, proposed by Gordon Marsden on 21/10/2009.
Categorised under the topic of Armed forces welfare.

That this House congratulates the Blackpool branch of the Royal British Legion for holding in the town on 24 October its 20th consecutive annual Poppython, a non-stop six hour event at which visiting artists and celebrities entertain the King Street's Legion audience, raising money for the annual Poppy Appeal; notes that over £100,000 has been raised for this since the Poppython began; applauds the Poppython organiser, Mr Ian Coleman, and all the participants, volunteers and club staff for their tireless work both for this and other fundraising events for the Poppy Appeal in Blackpool; and is delighted that this year uniquely there will be an extra Poppython night on 7 December, on the occasion of the visit of Her Majesty The Queen to Blackpool for the Royal Variety Performance in the Winter Gardens.
