Land Agreements Exclusion And Revocation Order 2004
EDM number 2108 in 2008-09, proposed by John Grogan on 20/10/2009.
Categorised under the topics of Competition, Service industries and Land law.
That this House welcomes the Government's consultation on the future of the Land Agreements Exclusion and Revocation Order 2004; further welcomes the Government's preference for the repeal of the Order; notes that the removal of the Order will allow competition law to be better applied to the pub sector, encouraging the reform of beer tie arrangements, and will also allow competition authorities to take action against practices in the pub sector which are anti-competitive such as the use of restrictive covenants which prevent sold pubs being run as pubs by whoever purchases them; and calls on the Government to take steps to repeal the Order during the next parliamentary session.
This motion has been signed by a total of 88 MPs.
