Teacher Licensing And Accountability

EDM number 2085 in 2008-09, proposed by Bob Spink on 19/10/2009.
Categorised under the topic of Teachers.

That this House is concerned by Government plans to require teachers to be re-licensed every five years from September 2010; agrees with the National Union of Teachers that teachers must be accountable, but notes that there is no shortage of accountability criteria at present including Ofsted inspections, performance-related pay and school league tables; and therefore calls on the Government to re-consider its plans on licensing in favour of continuing professional development for teachers and headteachers.

This motion has been signed by a total of 4 MPs.
