Cricket In Scotland
EDM number 1916 in 2008-09, proposed by Russell Brown on 16/07/2009.
Categorised under the topic of Sports.
That this House welcomes the comments of Roddy Smith, Chief Executive of Cricket Scotland, that there is a huge interest in cricket among Scottish people, including in the current Ashes series; congratulates Cricket Scotland and the many community cricket clubs in Scotland for their endeavours in increasing the popularity of the sport in Scotland; looks forward with anticipation to the one day international between Scotland and Australia; deplores the comments of Scottish Nationalists in the Scottish Parliament that cricket is of no interest in Scotland; and rejects their demand that it should be censored from terrestrial sports bulletins as mean-spirited and anti-sport.
