Gamma-Butyrolactone

EDM number 1848 in 2008-09, proposed by Keith Vaz on 09/07/2009.
Categorised under the topic of Drugs misuse.

That this House is alarmed that the drug Gamma-butyrolactone (GBL) is still legal despite the Advisory Council of the Misuse of Drugs warning the Home Office that it should be made illegal in August 2008; is disturbed that action has not been taken, despite growing evidence that GBL causes psychosis and that there is an increasing number of addicts; is seriously concerned that this dangerous drug is legally available and freely available online; further notes that the drug can be available at just 50 pence a dose; and calls on the Government urgently to review the legal status of the drug and to ban it with immediate effect.

This motion has been signed by a total of 29 MPs.
