YOUNG PEOPLE'S MENTAL HEALTH
EDM number 1823 in 2008-09, proposed by Lynne Featherstone on 07/07/2009.
Categorised under the topics of Children and families and Mental health.
That this House supports the work of YoungMinds, the children and young people's mental health and wellbeing charity, and particularly its children and young people's manifesto which highlights 11 areas where young people with mental health problems believe things must change so that they get the help they deserve; notes with concern that one in 10 young people are diagnosed with serious mental health problems, the equivalent of three young people in every classroom; recognises that despite the many policy documents that have been produced children and young people still do not have enough support in schools and are still waiting for over six months for the treatment and help they so vitally need; and calls on the Government to ensure that policy documents such as the CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health) Review are fully implemented, and that they prioritise children and young people's mental health and implement all of the points made by young people in the YoungMinds manifesto.
