That this House congratulates the Forced Marriage Unit for its efforts in protecting the lives of young people who suffer tremendous physical and emotional trauma in situations of forced marriage; notes that the Unit has handled over 1,300 cases since the beginning of 2008; recognises that the implementation of the Forced Marriage Act 2007 will help supplement the efforts of the Unit; and believes that in order to deal with the increasing number of cases the Government needs to support an expansion in the operations of the Unit by making an increase in human and financial resources made available to it.
