Film Classification

EDM number 1678 in 2008-09, proposed by Bob Spink on 16/06/2009.
Categorised under the topic of Performing arts.

That this House notes with concern the decision of the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) to award a `12' rating certificate to the film `Yes Man' despite the lewd material contained therein; believes that the BBFC exists to protect children from certain aspects of life, not to educate them; and calls on the Government to review more critically the performance of the BBFC in order to ensure that film classification standards are maintained at the highest level in the interests of children's safety and development.
