Shrewsbury Town Council

EDM number 1621 in 2008-09, proposed by Daniel Kawczynski on 09/06/2009.
Categorised under the topic of Local government.

That this House congratulates Shrewsbury Conservatives for their remarkable victory in winning control of Shrewsbury Town Council; believes that by overwhelming Labour, Shrewsbury Conservatives can now ensure that it will not lose out in the new unitary authority formula for Shropshire; urges them to protect the interests of Shrewsbury; further urges the people of Shrewsbury to interact with the town council to ensure that their priorities and objectives are secured from the unitary authority; believes that the conduct of the Liberal Democrats, who fielded only two candidates for the Council out of 17 wards, is abhorrent; notes that the Liberal Democrats' election co-ordinator, Mr Colin Dowse, stated publicly that the town council was not important enough to merit further Liberal Democrat candidates standing for election; and hopes that Mr Dowse apologises for this insult to Shrewsbury Town Council.

This motion has been signed by a total of 2 MPs.
