THEATRE IN YORKSHIRE AND BARRY RUTTER'S PRODUCTION OF OTHELLO

That this House recognises the importance of theatre to the cultural life of communities in Yorkshire and across the UK; congratulates Barrie Rutter of Halifax on his work in successfully directing a well-acclaimed performance of the Shakespeare play Othello; notes the excellence of the acting by all cast members of the Northern Broadsides; pays specific tribute to the excellent performances by Lenny Henry as the lead role Othello and Conrad Nelson as Iago; notes that this performance has effectively captured the attention of audiences all across the country from Leeds to Kingston; and further congratulates all involved on their work in obtaining excellent reviews and putting on a thoroughly entertaining performance.
