Food Advertising Restrictions
EDM number 963 in 2007-08, proposed by Philip Davies on 19/02/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Broadcasting, Food, Manufacturing industries, Media and Obesity.
That this House welcomes the Advertising Standards Authority's recent data that indicate that there has been 100 per cent. compliance from food and drink companies with regulations introduced by Ofcom in 2007 to restrict the advertisement of high in fat, sugar and salt products; and strongly opposes attempts to introduce further restrictions on food advertising, which will do nothing to reduce obesity but will further undermine the economics of commercial broadcasting and non-broadcast media in the UK.
This motion has been signed by a total of 10 MPs, 2 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
