Gas Patio Heaters

EDM number 850 in 2007-08, proposed by Nigel Evans on 04/02/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Energy and European Parliament.

That this House notes with concern that MEPs have voted to endorse a report that says a timetable should be set to ban gas patio heaters; further notes that this is not a decision for Members of the European Parliament but should remain a decision for national sovereign parliaments; further notes that the unintended consequence of the smoking ban is the huge increase in the number of patio heaters outside pubs; further notes the relatively small levels of carbon dioxide emissions that patio heaters produce; and calls on the British Government to protect the British pub industry by ignoring the call to ban these heaters.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs.
