EDM number 817 in 2007-08, proposed by Katy Clark on 30/01/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Electoral franchise, Equality, Members of Parliament and Parliament.
That this House notes that 2008 is the 90th anniversary of women's suffrage achieved in the Representation of the People Act 1918, and the 80th anniversary of women receiving the same voting rights as men; notes that there are currently 128 women hon. Members in the House of Commons; further notes that this is equivalent to only one in five hon. Members; and believes that the 90th anniversary of women's suffrage is an opportunity to promote further discussions about how to increase the number of women being elected to this House and other democratic bodies in the UK.
This motion has been signed by a total of 82 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
