That this House notes that bowel cancer is the UK's second biggest cancer killer resulting in the deaths of around 45 people everyday; further notes that 90 per cent. of people diagnosed could be saved by early detection and effective treatment of bowel cancer; congratulates Beating Bowel Cancer on the Be Loud! campaign and their ongoing work with bowel cancer patients; welcomes the publication of the Cancer Reform Strategy and the Government's focus on improving cancer care and services for patients; and calls on the Government to make explicit its commitment to address specific issues raised in Beating Bowel Cancer's Bowel Cancer Challenge including to improve public awareness, extend the bowel cancer screening programme, ensure that clinically effective treatments are available at the right time and in the right setting for all patients, and recognise the value of prolonged quality life these can have for bowel cancer patients and their families.
