European Union (Amendment) Bill (No. 2)

EDM number 694 in 2007-08, proposed by Bob Spink on 14/01/2008.
Categorised under the topics of EU institutions and EU law and treaties.

That this House notes the constitutional importance of the European Union (Amendment) Bill and its potential impact on the future of Parliament; believes it is unacceptable that the information on which the Bill's second reading debate on Monday 21st January is centred will not be available to hon. Members until an unspecified time on Thursday 17th January; therefore calls on the Government to immediately place in the Vote Office Command Papers Cm 7310 on the Consolidated Treaties and Cm 7311 which sets out the changes to be made to the current Treaties; urges the Government to resist arranging all but the most urgent statements on those days on which the Bill is to be considered; and further urges frontbench spokespersons to restrict their opening speeches to allow backbenchers the maximum amount of time to contribute to debate on the Bill.

This motion has been signed by a total of 12 MPs.
