Kurdish Democratic Society Party

That this House calls upon the Government to express in the strongest terms to the Turkish government its dismay at the targeting by the Turkish judiciary of the Human Rights Association, and at the indictment of the leaders of the Kurdish political party, the Democratic Society Party (DTP), thus overturning the wishes of the people as expressed in the general election of July 2007 and ending the DTP's parliamentary representation; and urges the Government to seek a European Union initiative to express opposition to this unwarranted interference in the democratic process, a measure which is incompatible with Turkey's aim for full membership of the European Union.
This motion has been signed by a total of 21 MPs.
