London Assembly

EDM number 556 in 2007-08, proposed by Peter Bottomley on 11/12/2007.
Categorised under the topics of Elections and Political parties.

That this House notes that in May 2008 there is a possibility that at least two members of the British National Party (BNP) will gain a seat on the London Assembly, and that as things currently stand there is a grave risk of these two members of the BNP having a deciding vote on the Mayor's budget; believes that this is a potentially disastrous situation in which a future Mayor of any party could depend on BNP support to pass his budget; calls upon all politicians for all parties to denounce the BNP in London and to work together to combat anyone who seeks to play the race card in London politics; and further calls upon the Government to uses its powers to combat this very real threat.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
