Forth Road Bridge

EDM number 479 in 2007-08, proposed by Willie Rennie on 05/12/2007.
Categorised under the topics of Roads and Scottish Parliament.

That this House recognises the importance of the Forth Road Bridge to the economy of Fife and the rest of the UK; notes that experts believe that the bridge could be closed to heavy goods vehicles in 2013 and all vehicles in 2019; welcomes the Scottish Government's consultation exercise which explored all the possible routes and build options; notes with concern the failure of the Scottish Government to announce the early go-ahead for a replacement crossing as promised in the Scottish National Party manifesto; regrets that the Scottish Government has not ruled out the possibility of tolling on the replacement crossing, nor committed to enhance cross-Forth public transport provision; and calls on the Scottish Government to announce its plans for a replacement crossing without further delay.

This motion has been signed by a total of 17 MPs.
