Amritsar International Airport

EDM number 2509 in 2007-08, proposed by John McDonnell on 17/11/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Asia and Aviation.

That this House appreciates the concern within the Panjabi community at the threat to Amritsar International Airport from the withdrawal of direct flights by Singapore and Jet airlines from the airport, caused partly by the imposition of high landing charges and delays in freight duty repayments; notes that this airport is important to many members of that community visiting the Darbar Sahib, Golden Temple, and Mata Vaishno Devi; and calls upon the UK Government to urge the Indian government to do all it can to secure the future of Amritsar International Airport and maintain its accessibility.

This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs.
