Energy Prices (No. 3)
EDM number 2483 in 2007-08, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 11/11/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Consumers and Energy.
That this House condemns the energy companies for not reducing prices of gas and electricity following a reduction in the price of oil; notes that crude oil prices have fallen by more than 50 per cent. in the last six months; recognises that energy price increases were excused by rising oil prices yet prices have now fallen with no corresponding drop in gas and electricity bills; expresses its grave concern that energy companies continue to pay excessive wages and make immoral profits at the cost of customers in the UK; calls on the companies to reduce prices for consumers and business during the economic downturn; and further calls on the Government to take direct action by imposing a windfall levy.
This motion has been signed by a total of 41 MPs.
