Barack Obama And The Office Of President Of The United States Of America

EDM number 2419 in 2007-08, proposed by Keith Vaz on 05/11/2008.
Categorised under the topics of International politics and government and North America.

That this House congratulates Barack Obama on his election as the 44th President of the United States of America; recognises that first and foremost his election is an endorsement of his skills as a leader, an orator and a politician; notes that even a few years ago it would have been unimaginable for an African-American man to run for President let alone win; identifies him as a shining example of how far America has come in respect of integration and equality; welcomes the record level of turnout during this election and its positive impact on democracy; and looks forward to a new era in the relationship between our two countries and the wider world.

This motion has been signed by a total of 84 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
