Student Grants

EDM number 2392 in 2007-08, proposed by Stewart Hosie on 30/10/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Higher education and Students.

That this House notes the rising cost of living is affecting all sectors of society including students; expresses concern that after a major oversight by the Government, 40,000 students at English universities will be denied grants of up to £524 and are subsequently facing greater financial hardship; and welcomes the Scottish Government's £30 million commitment to easing student hardship by moving from loans to grants for part-time students while planning to consult on how to reduce the burden on full-time students.

This motion has been signed by a total of 14 MPs.
