That this House recognises the chronic condition known as Miner's Knee, affecting thousands of miners; expresses concern that sufferers experience pain, swelling, clicking and locking of the knee as a result of repetitive work under cramped and restrictive conditions; further notes that many miners spent up to six hours a day crawling in an area of no less than three feet high; recognises that many miners have made claims for compensation; praises the efforts of the National Union of Mineworkers for providing funding for litigation cases; and calls on the Government to consider recognising the condition and providing compensation for miners for the sacrifices they have made.
