Blackpool Tower And Strictly Come Dancing
EDM number 2354 in 2007-08, proposed by Gordon Marsden on 27/10/2008.

That this House applauds the campaign backed by Strictly Come Dancing panelist Craig Horwood, the Blackpool Gazette and others to persuade the BBC to bring filming of its TV contest back to Blackpool Tower's historic ballroom; believes that its wonderful sprung dance floor and exuberant fin de siècle décor and organ would provide a perfect backdrop for a television programme that reaches 12 million people; and further believes that it complements perfectly the current development of Blackpool's Tower Headland as a celebration of dance and popular leisure funded by Government's Sea Change programme as well as giving the BBC an opportunity to underline its commitment to the regions and the North West in particular in the run-up to moving some of its operations to Manchester.
