Technology And Football Refereeing

EDM number 2317 in 2007-08, proposed by Angus MacNeil on 21/10/2008.
Categorised under the topic of Sports.

That this House believes that football, the richest sport in the world, should no longer play King Canute in respect of modern technology and that officials should utilise the benefits of television replay if the ball has gone out of play providing the opportunity to review a decision over which questions have been posed; and deplores the continued blind eye to reality which leaves the referee and assistants, who should be the most informed figures on the field, frequently the least informed and denies fans and spectators the truth and real fairness and judgment assisted by all reasonable means.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
