Irish No Vote

EDM number 2062 in 2007-08, proposed by Nigel Evans on 16/07/2008.
Categorised under the topics of EU law and treaties and EU political integration.

That this House recognises that 53.4 per cent. of Irish voters said no to the Lisbon Treaty; notes with concern President Sarkozy's recent comments that he plans to make Ireland vote again; remembers that when French and Dutch voters rejected the EU Constitutional Treaty there was no second referendum; and calls on the Government to support the Irish electorate to ensure that the Lisbon Treaty cannot now be ratified and that it is, rightly, abandoned.

This motion has been signed by a total of 21 MPs.
