Review Of The Closure Of Hm Revenue And Customs Chorley

EDM number 1998 in 2007-08, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 09/07/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Civil Service, Employment and Taxation.

That this House calls on the Chancellor of the Exchequer to hold an immediate review of the decision to close the HM Revenue and Customs office in Chorley; notes that the Chorley office costs less to operate than the Blackburn office, which has been withdrawn from the schedule for closure; labels this decision as economic madness; questions the competence of his Department in light of this decision; and notes that in times of economic slowdown, the priority should be to save the taxpayer money and that by reviewing the closure of Chorley HM Revenue and Customs' commitment to the taxpayer would be demonstrated.

This motion has been signed by a total of 8 MPs.
