SCOTASH'S QUEEN'S AWARD FOR ENTERPRISE 2008 FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
EDM number 1885 in 2007-08, proposed by Willie Rennie on 25/06/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Energy conservation, Industry, Manufacturing industries and Sustainable development.
That this House congratulates Scotash for achieving its second Queen's Award for Enterprise (Sustainable Development) in three years; notes that Scotash produces a range of cements and construction materials from fly ash produced by Longannet and Cockenzie coal fired power stations; welcomes the significant contribution the company makes to the environment, as the process uses much less energy than cement making, reduces the volume of ash for landfill and reduces the volume of quarried material; further notes the high quality of Scotash products; and further notes that the success of Scotash is evidence that where there's ash there's brass.
