Eu Trade Policy And The Developing World
EDM number 1826 in 2007-08, proposed by Bob Spink on 17/06/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Common Agricultural Policy, International development, International trade and EU external relations.
That this House believes that trade is often better than aid for developing countries and is a powerful driver of growth, positive development, elimination of corruption and poverty reduction; further believes that the EU has both an economic interest, and a moral responsibility, to remove its trade protectionism, particularly on agricultural products, and to remove trade barriers to goods from the poorest countries; and therefore calls on the Government to press the EU to provide fair access to the EU market, to immediately withdraw from the Common Agricultural and Common Fisheries policies of the EU and to commence withdrawal from the EU and recommence trade with European countries and the rest of the world on a fair basis that is beneficial to the UK and the developing world.
