Salary Package For Royal Mail Chief Executive And Postal Services
EDM number 1658 in 2007-08, proposed by Bob Russell on 02/06/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Pay and Postal services.
That this House deplores the salary package for the 2007-08 financial year reportedly paid to the Chief Executive of Royal Mail, Mr Adam Crozier, totalling more than £3 million in terms of salary, a so-called performance bonus, other benefits, cash supplement in lieu of pension and what is described as a long-term incentive plan covering three years; believes that such a huge payment undermines morale in the postal workforce and Post Office network; finds it hard to accept that the state of Royal Mail under Mr Crozier's stewardship warrants any performance bonus; notes that Mr Crozier has presided over a closure programme of 2,500 post offices nation-wide; and calls on the Government to intervene with policies which will prevent further closures of post offices, to build on the network with new community financial and other services, and to allow Royal Mail to charge commercial mail companies the full cost of delivering commercial mail without the subsidy which such companies currently receive from Royal Mail's other users.
