UK Government Aids Strategy And Commitment For Children
EDM number 1644 in 2007-08, proposed by Mark Durkan on 22/05/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Communicable diseases, Diseases, Health education and preventive medicine and International development.
That this House recalls the Government's 2005 pledge to place children at the heart of its strategy to tackle HIV/AIDS in the developing world; notes that this involved a cornerstone commitment of 10 per cent. of its £1.5 billion HIV/AIDS budget for 2005-08 to children affected by HIV/AIDS; believes that this earmark commitment helped Ministers to galvanise the international response to children affected by HIV/AIDS; and calls for this level of commitment to children to be sustained in the Government's forthcoming HIV/AIDS strategy.
This motion has been signed by a total of 40 MPs.
