That this House welcomes the publication of the National Union of Students' report, Evaluating Estrangement, which examines the cases of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) students who are estranged from their parents and the arrangements for estrangement status in the application process for higher education student finance; and calls for better guidance on estrangement for higher education decision makers and applicants learning from best practice measures and comprehensive data collection in order to support vulnerable young people in their education and to ensure that estrangement and its consequences are not barriers to accessing education and student support.
