Bluetongue Vaccines And Eu Regulations

EDM number 1495 in 2007-08, proposed by Bob Spink on 07/05/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Agriculture, Animal diseases and Farmers.

That this House congratulates the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on ordering millions of vaccines to enable British farmers to halt the spread of bluetongue and protect their cattle from this dangerous, nasty and painful disease by taking sensible preventative action to care for their animals; but is astounded that EU regulations now effectively stop the use of these vaccines outside protection zones, leaving cattle in danger of contracting this disease, which is carried by insects, risking the spread of the disease and depriving farmers of caring for their cattle properly; and calls on the Government to bring forward measures to take back control of farm animal welfare in the UK.

This motion has been signed by a total of 5 MPs.
