INTERNATIONAL LONGSHORE AND WAREHOUSE UNION'S ACTION FOR PEACE CAMPAIGN

EDM number 1452 in 2007-08, proposed by John McDonnell on 29/04/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Industrial relations, Military operations and North America.

That this House commends the decision of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) to stop work for eight hours in all West Coast ports in the United States of America on 1st May to call for an end to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan; recognises the proud history of the San Francisco Longshore Union of internationalism and active opposition to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan; is concerned that the US maritime companies are pursuing legal attempts to prevent the Longshore Union's right to demonstrate; and calls upon workers in the US, United Kingdom and around the world to join in solidarity with the ILWU in support of this courageous action in the struggle for peace.

This motion has been signed by a total of 17 MPs.
