Concessionary Travel For People With Mental Health Problems
EDM number 1411 in 2007-08, proposed by Bob Laxton on 23/04/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Buses and Mental health.
That this House welcomes the introduction of the new England-wide off-peak concessionary bus travel scheme, but is concerned that the eligibility criteria for the scheme set out in the Transport Act 2000 and the Greater London Authority Act 1999 serve to exclude thousands of people who are in most need of the concession, particularly those with mental health problems; notes the vital role that public transport has to play in supporting the recovery and social inclusion of people experiencing mental health difficulties; and calls on the Department for Transport to conduct an in-depth review of the eligibility criteria.
