Protection For Bus Workers In The Local Transport Bill
EDM number 1368 in 2007-08, proposed by David Drew on 21/04/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Buses and Employment.
That this House notes that the Local Transport Bill seeks to make the regulation of bus services through the introduction of Quality Contracts a more realistic option for local authorities; applauds bus workers, who as essential public servants, play a vital role in keeping Britain moving; believes bus workers deserve the strongest possible protection in the event that a local authority decides to introduce a Quality Contract; and therefore supports amendments to the Local Transport Bill which will ensure the protection of bus workers' employment, terms and conditions and pensions.
