Free Television Licences For Pensioners
EDM number 1306 in 2007-08, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 02/04/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Broadcasting and Elderly people.
That this House notes that pensioners aged 75 years and over currently enjoy free television licences; recognises the importance of a television to elderly people who spend many hours in their own homes and depend heavily on their televisions; further notes the anomalies within the current system whereby the rate of television licence fees levied varies between those living in sheltered accommodation, nursing homes or living in their own home; and calls on the Government to end this disparity and provide free television licences for pensioners aged 65 years and over.
