Accrington Hm Revenue And Customs Office
EDM number 1231 in 2007-08, proposed by Greg Pope on 19/03/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Employment and Taxation.
That this House notes with dismay the reversal of the interim decision to keep Accrington HM Revenue and Customs office open; notes with concern that the staff there face the possibility of being relocated to jobs in Manchester or Bootle, destinations which far exceed a reasonable daily travelling distance; further notes the excellent business performance of the 112 staff at Accrington HM Revenue and Customs office; finds the decision to close the office inexplicable; and calls on the Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Financial Secretary to the Treasury to intervene and reverse this decision.
