Local Taxation In Scotland
EDM number 1086 in 2007-08, proposed by Stewart Hosie on 03/03/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Devolution, Taxation and Scottish Parliament.
That this House condemns the UK Secretary of State for Work and Pensions' threat to hold back Scottish taxpayers' money if the SNP Scottish Government replaces the council tax with a fair system of local income tax; believes that Scotland must be allowed to make its own democratic choices; notes that the Scottish Parliament has already endorsed the principle of a local income tax; believes that the UK Government and UK Parliament must respect that; and further believes that the Work and Pensions Secretary's comments will only add to the call for Scotland to have its own independent tax and benefits system.
This motion has been signed by a total of 6 MPs.
