Abolition Of The Graduate Endowment Fee In Scotland
EDM number 1085 in 2007-08, proposed by Angus MacNeil on 03/03/2008.
That this House welcomes the abolition of the graduate endowment fee and the restoration of free education in Scotland by the SNP Scottish Government; expresses relief that Labour's right-wing alliance with the Conservatives in Scotland, which attempted to keep this back-end tuition fee, failed; endorses the Scottish Government's view that education should be based on ability to learn and not the ability to pay; and believes that the Westminster Government should follow the Scottish Government's example.
