That this House notes with great sadness the recent death of Bill Flanagan OBE, Freeman of the Borough of Chesterfield; further notes that he dedicated most of his adult life to public service on behalf of the people of Chesterfield and Staveley and was one of the longest serving council leaders in Britain and that he was also an active leader of the Coalfield Communities Campaign; pays tribute to his work; and puts on record its appreciation of the great debt that the people of Chesterfield and the coalfield communities owe to Bill Flanagan.
