Every Child Matters Campaign
EDM number 1030 in 2007-08, proposed by Alan Meale on 25/02/2008.
Categorised under the topics of Children and families, Energy, Incomes and poverty, Sickness, disability and carers' benefits and Utilities.
That this House is aware of the campaign, Every Child Matters, which is currently asking from the Government a budgetary commitment to pilot a scheme to give winter fuel allowances to families in the UK with disabled children in their family; recognises that with rising fuel costs research evidence shows that two thirds of families in this category struggle to pay their fuel bills in the wintertime, a factor not least affected by the need to maintain constant home heat levels to ward off infections and bouts of restricted mobility caused directly by cold conditions; and calls upon the Government to respond positively to the campaign which would both relieve suffering and hardship whilst helping to lift up to 40,000 vulnerable families out of poverty.
This motion has been signed by a total of 62 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
