That this House congratulates the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry on the publication of its manifesto, The Right Medicine, the Right Patient, the Right Time, which emphasises the pharmaceutical industry's commitment to placing patients at the centre of the NHS; recognises the contribution that the pharmaceutical industry makes to science and the health of the nation; reiterates the industry's determination to maintain the highest ethical standards in the research and promotion of medicines; draws attention to the postcode lottery prescribing practice; and urges the Government to work with the pharmaceutical industry to ensure that the appropriate use of medicines both improves patient care and helps the NHS budget to go further.
