Local Energy And Energy Efficiency Schemes

EDM number 958 in 2006-07, proposed by Mark Williams on 22/02/2007.

That this House believes that climate change is a major threat to the planet, and recognises that urgent action must be taken to reduce carbon emissions at global, national and local level; commends the work of local groups like Ymlaen Ceredigion, which formed Ceredigion Energy Forum, which brings together those who want to develop sustainable energy initiatives with those who provide the goods and service to carry out projects, Potential Energy Llandysul, which aims to reduce Llandysul town's carbon emissions through the promotion of renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency measures, and Energy Efficiency Training, which gives accredited training in home energy efficiency for health and social care workers; and supports the provisions of the Local Planning Authorities (Energy and Energy Efficiency) Bill, which would allow councils to include energy efficiency standards higher than current building regulations and sustainable energy and microgeneration provisions in their local development plans, and also require them to consider whether to specify conditions relating to energy efficiency, sustainable energy and microgeneration when granting planning permission.

This motion has been signed by a total of 36 MPs.
