Bus Travel In London
EDM number 890A1 in 2006-07, proposed by Robert Neill on 06/03/2007.
leave out from `House' to end and add `notes that the provision of free bus and tram travel in the capital for all under-18s in full-time education is estimated to cost Londoners some £55 million at a time when the majority of passengers face a third year of above inflation fare increases; does not believe that such a blanket subsidy is a sound use of money; is deeply concerned at the substantial evidence of increased anti-social behaviour and disorder on buses that has occurred since the introduction of this scheme; and believes that the introduction of a pilot dedicated school bus scheme, as proposed by Conservative members of the London Assembly offers a better means of seeing students safely to school, a better value for money for Londoners and avoids the undesirable consequences referred to above.'.
This is a ammendment to 890.
