Continuity Insurance
EDM number 748 in 2006-07, proposed by Mike Penning on 25/01/2007.
That this House welcomes the business continuity campaign being launched by the British Insurance Brokers Association, urging all small and medium-sized enterprises across the United Kingdom to ensure that they have taken the necessary steps to protect their business and their employees in the event of an emergency such as a fire, flood or act of terrorism; expresses concern at independent research which reveals that nearly three quarters of businesses have no plans for dealing with the consequences of acts of terrorism, that nearly half of businesses have no plans to deal with the impact of flooding, and that only half have a formal written business continuity plan in place; and encourages all businesses to get serious about business continuity.
