Hm Revenue And Customs Offices In Northern Ireland

EDM number 565 in 2006-07, proposed by Dr William McCrea on 08/01/2007.

That this House is deeply concerned at the HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) announcement of job cuts in Northern Ireland; notes that regional offices across Northern Ireland, including those in Craigavon and Ballymena, can ill afford to lose high quality jobs in the public sector; notes that this will affect staff in remote rural areas who rely upon this employment and will have a detrimental impact on a high volume of married women with families who travel to these locations for work; believes that this policy will impact severely on HMRC's policy to provide satisfactory customer service; and calls on HMRC to reconsider plans for the provision of offices across the Province.
